  • Patients scheduled for an endoscopy or colonoscopy should enter the hospital from the upper entrance off Highland Ave. and follow signage to the Endoscopy entrance. The Lab and Vascular Services building has parking spaces in front for lab and infusion services patients. There are two designated parking areas for our Emergency Department, as well as handicapped parking for ED patients. Outpatient pediatric and adolescent Behavioral Health patients and visitors use our Main Entrance.

  • For patients on Boston's North Shore, our Heart Center offers fully integrated cardiac services, including comprehensive testing services. For patients who experience fainting spells, this device enables physicians to produce and observe a fainting spell under controlled conditions. Our Heart Center offers comprehensive and integrated cardiac services to North Shore patients. Cardiac surgery is now performed at Mass General, while all other aspects of a patient’s heart care are provided through the Heart Center, including cardiac exams.   • Our community of obstetrician/gynecologists can provide initial reproductive medicine services to our patients. Patients who need additional evaluation and treatment are referred to the Mass General Fertility Center at the Mass General Brigham Healthcare Center Danvers. Fertility patients can receive the majority of their fertility testing and treatment at the practice site in Danvers, while Intrauterine Insemination IUI and In Vitro Fertilization egg retrievals and embryo transfers are performed at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. For gynecology patients experiencing hormonal problems, our reproductive endocrinology specialists can provide diagnostic and treatment plans to address abnormal vaginal bleeding, excess hair loss or growth, fibroids, alternatives to hysterectomy and menopause management. Our physicians work closely with male infertility specialists and genetic counselors, as well as with the oncologists at the Mass General Brigham Healthcare Center for patients facing a cancer diagnosis with a need for fertility preservation.

Our endocrinologists refer patients, as needed, to our Diabetes Management Program. Patients in the program learn the necessary skills for managing diabetes through diet, medication and exercise. Patients with diabetic foot wounds that are slow to heal may qualify for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy HBOT treatment at our Advanced Wound Center. She manages patients while they are in the hospital, collaborating with their endocrinologist and primary care physician.

  • We've worked to ensure that we meet the needs of diverse and multilingual populations in every interaction between our healthcare staff and patients, and that the critical social needs of our communities are addressed. Testing was available regardless of immigration status, and patients did not need to have health insurance to be tested. To improve communication and better serve patients and their families, we recently launched a Spanish Language Care Group SLCG at Salem Hospital. Staffed by volunteer Spanish-speaking providers who are certified as Qualified Bilingual Staff, the group's goal is to apply their linguistic and cultural knowledge/awareness to support frontline caregivers and their patients in a variety of ways, including helping to communicate care and discharge plans and facilitating family meetings. The volunteers from the program are available to join physicians during rounds, especially for those difficult conversations with COVID-19 patients and their families, and offer support and comfort.
